Bayshore Boulevard – Tampa

The beautiful Bayshore Boulevard in South Tampa is one of the most well known waterfront roads in Tampa Bay. If you’ve ever watched a sporting event such as the College Football Playoff National Championship which was hosted in Tampa Bay in 2017, an NFL game of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or caught some on ice action of the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning, there is a good chance you’ve even witnessed Bayshore Boulevard’s beauty with your own eyes!
Located south of Downtown Tampa and directly on Hillsborough Bay, Bayshore Boulevard is an area widely used for recreation and exercise, as well as community events such as The Gasparilla Parade of the Pirates and The Children’s Gasparilla Parade.
The sidewalk along Bayshore Boulevard begins at the Columbus Statue Park at Platt Street and ends at Gandy Boulevard. It is 10 feet wide, 4.5 miles long and at any time you’ll see people running, walking, biking, rollerblading or just enjoying the view! There is a dedicated bike lane along the north-bound lane of Bayshore Boulevard beginning at Rome Avenue and extending 3-miles to Gandy Boulevard. A linear park, and the Bayshore Greenway Trail are also available for your adventures. Amenties along Bayshore Boulevard include benches to stop and take a waterfront selfie, a water fountain, bicycle parking, a city marina and fitness stations. For those looking to keep track of their distance, trail markers made of cast bronze are embedded in the sidewalk of Bayshore Boulevard at each mile, half mile and kilometer southward along the trail.
While Tampa residents are very proud of Bayshore Boulevard, don’t believe everything you read on the internet! Many websites claim that Bayshore Boulevard is the longest sidewalk in the world, but sadly it is not. The longest continuous sidewalk in the world is actually along the Río de la Plata in Montevideo, Uruguay. But it’s the longest in our hearts, and that’s really all that matters, right?
Lined by gorgeous waterfront views and multi-million dollar historic homes, owners include former Coca-Cola executive Henry E. Teasley Jr and former Tampa Bay Ray’s manager Joe Madden. Real estate along Bayshore Boulevard ranges in price from just over $1,000,000 to well over $13,000,000. But don’t feel discouraged if that’s slightly out of your price range, you may still be able to get a first hand look at these stunning homes. Homeowners often throw large parties for the previously mentioned Gasparilla Parade of the Pirates and The Children’s Gasparilla Parade, in addition to July 4th and New Year’s Eve. These homes are also rented out for charity events as well.
As Tampa Bay grows, so do the living options along Bayshore Boulevard. Condos such as 345 Bayshore, Monte Carlo Towers and Bayshore Royal have been around for years and are now neighbors to the beautiful new apartments Aquatica on Bayshore, making it an option for younger residents as well.
